Privacy
Retroradio has no accounts, no sign-up and no newsletter. It never asks you for a name, an address or a payment detail, and there is nowhere on the site to type one.
Your searches never leave your device
The search box is a form, but nothing is ever submitted. The index of stations and towns is downloaded once and matched inside your browser, so what you type is not sent to this site or to anyone else. That is a consequence of how the site is built rather than a promise to be taken on trust: there is no server here to receive a query.
What is stored on your device
retro-volume-v1in local storage — the position of the volume slider, so it survives between visits.- One session-storage entry recording what was playing and on which page, so audio keeps playing while you move around the site. It is cleared when you press stop or close the player, and when you close the tab.
Both are ordinary browser storage, readable only by this site, and you can clear them at any time through your browser. Neither is used to identify you.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-XMZRJFMSL9)
to count page views and see which parts of the site are used. It records things
like approximate location, device and browser, and it sets its own identifiers.
It is not used to build a profile of you and it is not joined to anything else.
Advertising
This site shows ads through Google AdSense (publisher ID
ca-pub-2468797226445782). Google and its partners may use cookies and device
identifiers to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your prior visits
to this and other sites. You can review and change what Google uses at
My Ad Center, and read how Google
handles data in its
partner sites
policy. Third-party vendors serving ads on this site set their own cookies;
this site does not control them.
When you press play
This is the part most sites leave out. Audio is never proxied through
this site. When you press play your browser connects straight to the
station's own streaming host, and that host — not Retroradio — receives
your IP address and request, under its own privacy policy. The same is true of
the track information shown for stations on the SecureNet platform, which is
requested from streamdb7web.securenetsystems.net. Streams in HLS
format additionally load a player library from cdn.jsdelivr.net.
Other third parties
Page fonts are served by Google Fonts
(fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com), which
means Google sees your IP address when a page loads. Links out to station
websites and social profiles are ordinary links; once you follow one you are on
somebody else's site.
Children
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes the date above changes with it. Questions about privacy, or a request about data, go to operator@the-retroradio.com. The site is operated by Justen Linker.
